MAD FOR RAMEN

IN COOL, SUMMER DAYS A BOWL OF WARM RAMEN IS THE BEST REMEDY.

To slurp on one of Japan’s tastiest dish, Mad Ronin (Petitenget) is still top of mind. Chef Yamashita’s tori momo (ramen in clear broth with roasted chicken thigh) and the classic tonkatsu (with pork bone boiled for 10 hours) lingers leaving us wanting for more of those savory broths and finely textured noodles. Ramen Hamatora’s (Jl. Pantai Batu Bolong) creamy shio ramen is delightfully flavorful, and Warung Ramen 88 (Jl. Raya Canggu), though offering a selection of halal ramen bowl, is no less delicious and the price tag is on the lower side. The recently opened 101 Ramen Yakitori Bar (Jl. Pantai Berawa) take on vegan ramen—the vegan coconut ramen made with chili lemongrass coconut broth and a serving of shiitake mushroom and tempe—is definitely worth a try or two.
