MY NAME IS KIKO TOUS, born on the 31 st of July in 1977 in Palma de Mallorca, Spain. I grew up in Palma and moved to Barcelona when I was 18 to study. I started my studies in Architecture but later decided to change to Design. After my studies I worked for several years in some of the most innovative Architecture offices based in Barcelona. Then the big crisis hit and we decided with my wife that it was the perfect time to do what we had promised ourselves, to live abroad as a family in order to be able to give to our kids (we have twins now turning 14 years old) a bigger vision of the world. We traveled for 2 years in Africa and the Middle East and then in 2015 we moved to Bali to start a new chapter of our lives.
WHAT DO YOU DO IN BALI?
After working in some architecture offices, tones of work, loads of efforts and big doses of patience, I founded together with Nico Caceres our own architecture studio named Caceres Tous Studio (www.cacerestous.com). Our office is located in Canggu and we are a team of 17 architects and designers. We design mostly residential and hospitality in Bali, Lombok and Rote.
WHY YOU TRAIN AT WANDERLUST?
I started CrossFit in 2016 when Wanderlust opened its doors. At that time, I was looking for a place to train and strengthen my muscles to improve my surfing. I started with a discipline called Movement, which I practiced for 10 months. Then I met Dave Driskell, and he encouraged me to join his CrossFit classes. I tried. I started training more consistently. I got hooked. CrossFit together with surfing became my main practice, until today.
WHAT YOU’RE WORKING ON WITH TRAINING?
After 4 years following the classes I decided to combine them with some more advance training to improve the technique and the strength. One of my goals is to compete in the masters division. Right now, I’m combining Dave classes with the Mayhem program from Rich Froning and also a personal program on mobility with Ana Galeote (@physiowods). I classified for the Open CrossFit quarterfinal in Masters division and also currently doing the qualifier for Master HQ.

WHAT’S YOUR HEALTH AND FITNESS GOAL LONG TERM?
I’d say that I started training CrossFit as a support for my surfing but it has become a very important part of my life, together with surfing. For physical, but also emotional reasons as it encourages me to continue pushing the boundaries and improve myself. I am turning 44 in July. My goal is to be able to train and surf for as long as possible. I’d say to train and surf properly till my 70’, or even my 80’s.
