CAN YOU TELL US A BODY TRANSFORMATION? I stepped in CrossFit Wanderlust for the first time a year ago weighing 52kg and struggling to do a 10lbs wall balls. Now my scale shows 58kg and that’s the happiest and healthiest I’ve ever been!
AS A MODEL HOW DID YOU TRAIN BEFORE AND HOW MUCH DIFFERENT IS IT NOW? Long story short, I simply never properly exercised before. Not counting now the one time visits to the gym to get a cute selfie and leave confused not knowing what to do with all that gear. My diet wasn’t healthy and I knew what calorie deficit was...an apple here, a small snack there, a sugary drink to keep myself not so hungry was a way to go. Now I feel strong, I lift weights and I eat much more of that delicious food! I practice intermittent fasting but I’m not restricting myself or stuffing my body with 1200kcal diets anymore. Feels great.
TELL US A BIT ABOUT YOUR FITNESS JOURNEY? My first session in CrossFit happened to be a renowned Saturday Smasher. Come it’s gonna be fun, they said. I did a smoke bomb right in the middle of it and left, saying I have to run some errands haha. It was hard. I realized how unfit I was at that time and decided to take action. Came back two months later with a promise to myself that no matter how hard it gets, I won’t run away again.
WHAT CHALLENGES HAVE YOU OVERCOME? The main challenge was to overcome that belief that weighing less is somehow better. I was afraid to gain ‘too much’ muscle. I was restricting myself on calories, I didn’t have enough energy to go through the WOD’s, but I kept going. People I’ve met here were amazing and it made me stay. I wanted to be more active and Wanderlust definitely gave me that. I just had to show up every day and see where it goes. Now it’s almost ingrained in my personality, it’s almost who I am. When I’m thinking what Wanderlust brought into my life - it’s more than I could reflect on.
WHAT PHYSICAL CAPABILITIES HAVE YOU ACHIEVED? can go through 10lbs wall balls with no problem now! But not just that. I feel strong and high energy now. Big difference from where I was a year ago. It feels good lifting weights and to move well. It gives me confidence that has started showing in other areas of my life.
WHAT MOVEMENT DO YOU WANT TO ACHIEVE FOR 2021? Being able to do afew decent muscle ups in a row would feel good for sure!
HOW DOES THE VIBE AT WANDERLUST MAKE YOU FEEL WHEN YOU TRAIN? look forward to seeing the familiar faces at the gym. I feel that everyone around me has grown together and it really warms my heart to see encouraging one another and I’ve never felt that vibe anywhere else! I’ve learnt a lot from other members. A lot of whom have become my best friends. They’ve pushed me to take further my training while reading more about nutrition, exercise and fitness as a whole.
